DOMA Vision, Culture, Google NYC

Virginia Beach, VA, March 25, 2019 –

DOMA CEO Pat Feliciano was afforded the exciting opportunity to visit Google’s New York City headquarters this month. Google’s NYC campus is nestled just south of the West Village and occupies 1.7 million square feet. Google’s move to NYC heralds an east coast shift that is slowly gaining momentum with many silicon valley tech companies like Amazon, Apple, Facebook, and Linkedin. Many of the tech giants taking part in this mass migration site untapped talent as a major factor in their move. Indeed, Google alone plans to bring over 15,000 jobs to New York. Technology is rapidly outstripping law and finance as the East Coast’s major economic driver.

Google’s east coast campus takes great pains to appreciate and evoke the quirky vibe of the city it now calls home. Unexpected nods include subway grates in the hallways, fire hydrants, and focus rooms decorated to feel like authentic studio apartments. Different wings thematically evoke surrounding New York boroughs including the Meat Packing District and Chelsea. The eclectic interior design inspires engagement and collaboration.

Carefully planned spaces foster what Laura Gimpel, Google Regional Facilities Manager for the East Coast, calls “causal collision”. Causal collision is the chance interaction that occurs when unacquainted staffers meet. Google believes these chance meetings can foster cross-pollination and innovation in unexpected ways. Ultimately, the campus is a social setting, that is meant to drive culture and keep the team motivated.

In addition to the facility tour, Google provided market analysis for DOMA where the Google team shared some of their insights on both how we could improve our corporate culture and how we could make strides in sales. One key inclusion was data on how promoting our Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions should be a major focus moving forward.

DOMA is entering a period of reflection and growth, as we expand it’s important to have mentorship and guidance. Industry leaders like Google can help provide a roadmap to success. As one of the only major technology companies in the area, DOMA is leading the vanguard into the unknown for Hampton Roads. Over 20 years DOMA has asserted itself as a local model for success and therefore might be paving the way for other tech companies to put down roots in the area.

DOMA Vision, Culture, DOMA Careers

Virginia Beach, VA, March 20, 2019 –

Spring is just around the corner and the warmer weather has brought a new look to DOMA’s Seahawk facility. After a long wait and a lot of planning the building is finally beginning to really take shape. A bold parking lot sign, large scale window signage, and bright, new graphic wraps are just part of the renovation. We’ve got plenty of changes happening on the inside too.

Frosted vinyl has been added to the cubes and conference rooms to create a luxurious feel and new furniture is being added every week. It’s exciting to see these changes coming to fruition after such a long design process. The open layout is game-changing in how breaks down barriers, making leadership more accessible and encouraging collaboration between departments. The new tables, glass whiteboards, state of the art conferencing displays, and the launch of DOMA TV all help to bolster the collaborative spirit DOMA is building.

DOMA TV especially has been a welcome addition to the office. Networked TVs throughout the building allow for the quick deployment of corporate initiatives and events. Screens can be divided to simultaneously play local news, display upcoming events, share DOMA’s social media, and announce culture initiatives. This has made it easy to disseminate information quickly and build engagement company-wide. Consequentially, DOMA TV is more than just entertainment, it’s a great way to keep people informed without cluttering up their inboxes.

We are well on our way to achieving Vision 2021’s goals for our DOMA home. Even with much of the furniture installed there is more still to come. There are some big plans for a few of the underused spaces including a DOMA merchandise store and a software demo station. The marketing department is hard and work designing wall graphics and interchangeable signage as well. The space is continuing to evolve and with each new addition, the building is beginning to feel more like home.

DOMA Partners with ECPI to Kickoff New Student Research Project

DOMA Vision, Culture, DOMA Careers

Virginia Beach, VA, March 10, 2019 –

DOMA Technologies is excited to announce the launch of a new student-led research project designed to help DOMA achieve Vision 2021. DOMA has partnered with ECPI to begin its first student project this March. For six weeks Professor John C. Rajan’s Business Administration Students will be researching and developing a proposal presentation focused on DOMA’s challenges and opportunities in the tech space. Students are separated into groups based on DOMA’s three main markets – Federal, State Government & Local Education (S.L.E.D.) and Commercial. These groups are encouraged to take on the role of industry experts bidding for a contract with our Marketing department. Their goal is to conduct in-depth research into their respective markets and clarify how DOMA can better succeed within that space. Students will explore and define the challenges, weaknesses, and competitor threats in DOMA’s current strategy and potentially offer insight on the path forward.

For the program kick off the students were invited to the brand new DOMA facility for a tour. Students were able to meet department leads in PMR, Sales, Communications, and Marketing to ask questions and gain deeper insight into the inner workings of the company. As the project progresses students will have the opportunity to schedule meetings and engage with DOMA in a way that mimics a real-world business relationship. At the end of their research and development phase, students will present their findings in a 20-minute presentation to DOMA leadership. To raise the stakes, one team will be chosen as the contract winner and be awarded an undisclosed, but the assuredly cool, prize.

DOMA believes student projects and internships provide a great opportunity to seek out local talent and give back through mentorship. With over 19 years of experience in the tech space, there is so much our talented DOMA team has to offer this next generation of students. As DOMA continues to grow, we hope to expand project and internship offerings to include additional departments such as Software Development and Sales. This budding program provides the perfect opportunity to help DOMA build valuable community connections and nurture tomorrow’s leaders. In addition to our partnership with ECPI, DOMA will soon be offering three in-house internships including Social Media Marketing, Graphic and Web Design, and Event Marketing that is open to all Hampton Roads students.

It was clear these interns had done their research. They asked insightful questions and really seemed to grasp some of the challenges and opportunities DOMA will have to tackle as we pursue Vision 2021. We are in a great place to really leverage their recommendations and grow as a company. I look forward to seeing what they will put together for their final presentations.”

DOMA Vision, Culture, DOMA Gives

Virginia Beach, VA, March 1, 2019 –

At DOMA we take our Vision 2021 values seriously. One of those values, “Build Up Leaders” really speaks to DOMA’s mission to give back to the community through educational programs. For four years DOMA has partnered with Virginia Beach’s very own Wave Leadership College to help equip the next generation of leaders.

Once known as the Life Leadership Training Center, Wave Leadership College (WLC) was launched with an initial class of six students in 1999. WLC has since grown to include an accredited Associates Program with six different degree tracks. Their newer Bachelor of Science program, supported by Southeastern University, boasts five majors including Ministerial Leadership, Business Administration, Digital Media, Psychology, and Mass Communications. Wave Leadership College has set itself apart by being both highly affordable and student-focused. A small student to teacher ratio of 11 to 1 means that each student gets the hands-on guidance they need to reach the next level in their journey.

It is DOMA’s goal to reach and inspire leaders both within the DOMA family and outside in the community. With that goal in mind, DOMA has provided both financial support and hardware donations in support of WLC’s mission. DOMA was recently invited to tour Wave Leadership College (WLC) and learn more about how our partnership has improved both operations through our DX software and the technology resources available to their students. In addition to a behind the scenes view of the facilities, DOMA staff were afforded the opportunity to speak with current and former WLC students and see firsthand the effectiveness of this innovative curriculum. Their stories and successes were the highlights of the visit, and the DOMA team left inspired and assured that their contributions are making a difference.

It is an honor to be enriching such a passionate body of students through our partnership with Wave Leadership College. We believe our continued support ties right into our own vision for the future and DOMA is proud to be partnering with organizations like WLC as they mentor and educate the leaders of tomorrow.
