DOMA's Giving Initiatives
A Year in Review
DOMA GIVES | 2022 A Year in Review
January 03, 2022
The new year has arrived, and along with it, the perfect opportunity to reflect on 2022. For DOMA Gives, this means looking back at the impact our charitable initiatives have had in the community over the past 12 months. Hopefully, looking back on the past year will help inspire us to do even more in 2023 and beyond. These charitable projects include our corporate giving, as well as the Gives Team projects, which are employee lead. Combined, these efforts allowed DOMA to donate over $135,000 to charity!
Volunteer and Donation Initiatives
In addition to raising monetary donations for charity, DOMA employees also participated in a variety of volunteer and collection drive events this year. These included:
At the beginning of the school year, DOMA employees came together to pack 100 backpacks with school supplies for children in need. The DOMA Gives Team organized all the backpack supplies and set up stations for employees to pack each pack. Backpacks were available for employees to distribute themselves so they could make a direct impact in their local communities. The remaining packs as well as employee donated supplies, were dropped them off at Operation School Supplies, run by WAVY News 10, which supports local Hampton Roads and North Carolina schools with much-needed supplies.
In August, DOMA sponsored the Norfolk Public Schools’ Summer Leadership Institute by providing breakfast and lunch for the participants of the program. The Summer Leadership Institute is a two-day conference that provides professional development to Norfolk Public School’s building and office administrators. This conference is important for allowing school leadership to plan for the upcoming school year. As a local business, DOMA likes to give back to education here in the Hampton Roads area, so we appreciated the chance to support Norfolk Public Schools.
For Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, DOMA Gives organized its Annual Breast Cancer Awareness Raffle. The members of the Gives Team picked out the lots and the employees at DOMA really came through bidding on the lots and raising money for the Virginia Breast Cancer Foundation.
DOMA has a long relationship with The Boys and Girls Club of Southeast Virginia. They are on our donation list every year and 2022 was no different. This year DOMA was a sponsor at their Golf Classic.
DOMA is proud to have been a sponsor for the Sam & Reba Sandler Family Foundation Annual Charity Golf Tournament this year. At this tournament, they raise money to give to several deserving charities in the community.
Golf outings are a staple with our executive team and so when an opportunity arises to both support a great cause and hit the back nine our team is all for it.
In 2022 DOMA was proud to be a sponsor for the YMCA’s 10th annual Hearts for Heroes Fishing Trip. This event offers an opportunity for service-related wounded, injured, and ill veterans of all service-related operations to have a therapeutic respite on the Chesapeake Bay at no cost. This annual event is an amazing example of how multiple businesses can come together to offer a truly unique experience for our local Veterans.
A Thanks to the DOMA Family
DOMA’s employees always come through for a good cause. Whether they contributed their resources or their time, 2022’s successes really showcased the generous nature of our team.
Moving into the next year with a mission to give even more generously. For 2023 DOMA is making plans to consolidate into one large facility. We hope this will allow more employees to participate in on-site charity activities. The DOMA Gives team is getting a head start by planning out the year with a focus on launching some completely new initiatives that will really challenge the team.
