DOMA Hosts AWS Night
DOMA Hosts AWS Night Featuring Subject Matter Expert Allan Askar
Virginia Beach, VA, May 09, 2019 –
This week has been another step forward in building community connections for DOMA. Most recently DOMA was host to the Hampton Roads Amazon Web Services User Group for our first-ever AWS Night. This informational event included beer, pizza, networking, and a presentation from AWS expert, Allan Askar. With about 20 in attendance, we had a great turnout for the event. There was lengthy dialogue after the presentation, and Allan was kind enough to answer a ton of questions. Allan spent significant time with the DOMA team, asking about our business, which leverages AWS extensively for our DOMA Experience (DX) software platform. There was even discussion about how DOMA could incorporate new AWS features into our service offerings.
What we Learned at the Event
During his presentation guest speaker, Allan Askar gave an overview of AWS core services, and use cases. As a Solutions Architect, he has experience with all 150+ services and guides customers in adopting the AWS Platform using best practices. Ultimately, it was a highly informative discussion that covered a lot of in-depth subject matter including the AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), AWS Lambda, and AWS Relational Database Service (RDS).
DOMA’s new Director of Cloud Services, who initiated and MC’d the event, had this to say about AWS Night:
Archie Horton
DIRECTOR OF CLOUD SERVICES
“DOMA Technologies has been a Hampton Roads fixture for 20 years and welcomed the opportunity host the Meetup to show off our new facility, discuss our DX Cloud Software Platform solution, and highlight our Cloud Services practice. We look forward to hosting future events at DOMA, and helping to build the Amazon Web Services community in Hampton Roads.”

Networking at the New DOMA facility
The networking portion of this Meetup was a huge success. With all the amazing changes and upgrades to our facility, our DOMA home is quickly proving to be an amazing space for hosting professional events. The upgraded café now boasts a custom shuffleboard table, a PS4 with Virtual Reality headset, and a MAME Arcade with over 500 games.
We at DOMA are excited to be branching out and fostering the technology community in Hampton Roads. Events like this are a great opportunity to build business relationships and tell our story. We would especially like to thank our prize sponsor for the event, BrandFuel, who provided t-shirts, smart plugs, and a technology gift basket for our raffle at the end of the evening. DOMA was truly excited to share our new facility with everyone in attendance and looks forward to hosting future learning events.
About the Hampton Roads AWS Users Group (HRAWSUG)
DOMA Technologies hosted AWS user groups are designed to build a community around AWS and give members a chance to learn more about AWS services and network. This is a new Meetup group, and DOMA employees are among the founding members. The group provides a forum for users to share experiences, best practices, and lessons learned from using AWS. HWAWSUG welcomes both new and experienced users.
